If you're watching the South Florida football team on television this season (and you very well might, because they play on a lot of Thursday nights) and notice a striking defensive similarity to the Indianapolis Colts, that won't be an accident.

Next month, Bulls defensive coordinator Wally Burnham is taking his entire staff to watch the Colts' organized team activities and get some advice from Indianapolis head coach Tony Dungy on the 4-3 defense.

Burnham and Dungy go back to when the latter was coaching the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"We'll watch the practices and drills (in Indianapolis)," Burnham said, "and then after lunch we're going to sit down and meet with their staff. Tony is going to let us in on staff meetings, player meetings and film sessions."

The latest Bulls squad will feature two of the best defensive players in the country in DE George Selvie and middle linebacker Tyrone McKenzie, and Burnham is hoping his time with the Colts will give him some ideas on how better to use them.

"It's the little stuff that's important," the Bulls' coach said. "The minor adjustments, the tendencies against formations and on specific downs and distances. That is what really helps you understanding of a scheme."

And George Selvie's favorite football player? The Colts' pass-rushing terror, Dwight Freeney.
