PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania - Cornerback Willie Williams re-signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers for another 2 years. The unrestricted free agent started the final 10 regular-season games last season and 2 playoff games after starting CB Chad Scott injured his knee October 17 against Dallas. Williams finished the season with 57 tackles, 1 sack and 1 interception.

Next year will mark Williams' 13th NFL season after playing college ball for Western Carolina University. He was drafted by the Steelers in 1993 in the 6th round, playing 4 years in Pittsburgh before spending the next 7 years with the Seattle Seahawks. He returned to the Steelmen in 2004.

The Steelers released Scott and tight end Jay Riemersma last month in salary-cap moves. The Steelers were only $500,000 under the salary cap at season's end and needed to trim several contracts, partly because of performance bonuses they paid following their 15-1 regular season.
