According to sources within the Oakland Raiders organization, the team is interested in interviewing Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt and will contact him after his current team completes its season after the upcoming Super Bowl. The Raiders are now the final club looking to fill their head coaching vacancy, after firing Norv Turner over three weeks ago.

Owner Al Davis is said to be very interested in Whisenhunt, but because of league rules he cannot approach him until after the Steelers season concludes. Pittsburgh defeated the Denver Broncos this past Sunday to earn a birth in Super Bowl XL, so the Raiders will now have to wait a couple more weeks.

The St. Louis Rams were also said to be interested in Whisenhunt to fill their coaching vacancy, but instead hired Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator Scott Linehan.
Whisenhunt has received a great deal of credit for the Steelers late season and post-season run, which has included victories over AFC Division winners Cincinnati, Indianapolis, and Denver, all on the road. Pittsburgh's offense has put up 31, 21, and 34 points respectively in the past three wins.

He has also played a huge role in the development of Steelers signal-caller Ben Roethlisberger, who overcame last year's difficulties in the playoffs to lead the team over the hump this time around. Whisenhunt has been an NFL assistant for nine seasons, including the last five in Pittsburgh.
