The Pittsburgh Steelers signed veteran tight end Marco Battaglia. The team is trying to bring in a replacement for the Jay Riemersma, who was released earlier in the offseason.

The 6'3", 249 lbs. Battaglia was on the Carolina Panthers roster in 2004. He did not see any action last year. The former Rutgers University TE has played professionally with the Cincinnati Bengals (1996-2000), the Washington Redskins (2001), the Steelers (2002), and the Panthers (2003-2004). In 8 seasons, he has 71 catches for 660 yards and 2 TDs.
