The Pittsburgh Steelers announced that linebacker Joey Porter will miss the entire preseason after undergoing arthroscopy knee surgery on Wednesday. Porter originally went in Wednesday morning for an MRI after swelling developed overnight on his injured knee. The doctor, James Bradley discovered loose cartilage that had to be removed

The Steelers hope to have Porter ready for their regular season opener on September 11th versus the Tennessee Titans. He originally suffered the injury on Tuesday afternoon in a one-on-one drill pass rush drill. According to reports, after he defeated free agent tackle Ulish Booker in the drill, he began celebrating and stomped down on the chalk mark that represents the quarterback and ended up hyper extending his knee. He had been beaten by Booker in the proceeding drill and demanded a rematch.

Joey Porter appeared in 15 games for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season and posted 54 tackles to go along with seven sacks and one interception. James Harrison will move into Porter's starting role at outside linebacker during the preseason. Pittsburgh coach Bill Cowher will also be getting a good look at various youngsters.
