A rumor popped up from a poster on Texans Talk about the possibility of former Longhorns RB Cedric Benson returning to the Lone Star State.

It doesn't seem Texans fans share any sort of nostalgia when it comes to Benson's college success.

A poster started the thread by saying he has information that could lead one to believe Benson is negotiating a deal with the Texans. Benson, recently released from Chicago after three unproductive seasons and multiple arrests, did not garner great support from posters on the forum.

One poster wrote, "I don't like the character issues he has stacking up for sure, and we know the (front office) doesn't dig it, so Cedric has got some 'splaining to do to sell this one."

While Benson doesn't seem to carry a quality reputation in this forum, some posters are fairly neutral about the possibility of Benson joining the team. One was even toeing the line of positivity.

"Bring him in see if he can turn his career around. If he sucks cut him its that simple."

It seems a good bet to suggest if Benson was going to be signed by the Texans, it would be a low-risk contract with no guaranteed money. Currently, the Texans have veterans Ahman Green and Chris Brown on their roster, neither of whom has proved to be the most durable back in the NFL.

One poster asks, "why not?"

"I have no problem with Ced trying out for the team. If we made Ron Dayne a decent RB in our system, and Ced is dedicated to playing hard, then it might turn out OK."
