Despite what some people think, there are no real rules for betting on pro football. You can subscribe to trends or patterns or never betting against a home favorite of less than 7 points at home against an AFC team in October. One semi rule that a lot of people use as a guide goes as follows: Never Bet Against Peyton Manning In a TV Night Game, Especially at Home.

That rule will be tested tonight, with the division rival Houston Texans visiting, and the Colts injury report looking like:
IND-WR-Collie-OUT, TE-Clark-OUT; RB-Addai-Doubtful, RB-Brown-Questionable IND-WR-Wayne-Questionable

But they still have Peyton Manning and the Texan defense has been suspect, giving up close to 28 points per game. Houston beat the Colts in week 1, and Manning might have enough magic to get this win at home, but I'm not sure they'll cover the 5.5 point spread.

As for the over/under, the total is set at 51. A high number, but the Texans will be able to move the ball up and down the field on the Indy defense, which should keep Mathis and Freeney honest. Manning will find playmakers in the passing game, even if we've never heard of them. The Over is 10-1 in the last 11 meetings between these two teams. I like the over.

Since Sunday's column was an “All Teaser” edition, let's do another teaser to finish the week out. Tease Houston up to 11.5 and then take the Over with the total teased down to 45.
