Texans release Jamie Sharper

The Houston Texans released veteran linebacker Jamie Sharper. He had started 48 straight games at MLB for the team.

The 6'3", 239 lbs. Sharper had 137 tackles, 2 sacks, 6 passes defended, 3 forced fumbles, and 1 fumble recovery in 2004. The fumble recovery was returned for a TD.

A former Virginia Cavalier, Sharper began his career with the Baltimore Ravens in 1997. After 5 seasons with Ravens, he joined the Texans in 2002. During his pro career, Sharper has totalled 831 tackles, 25.5 sacks, 2 INTs, 37 deflected passes, 13 forced fumbles, and 7 fumble recoveries in 128 games.

Sharper has never missed an NFL game and only missed 1 start since joining the league. Moreover, his younger brother is none other than Pro Bowl safety Darren Sharper.

Houston had previously released LB Jay Foreman and S Eric Brown; the players were also starters dating back the franchise's inaugural season.
