Red Raiders get commitment from in-state QB Karam

Friendswood High (Friendswood, Texas) quarterback Jacob Karam gave his verbal commitment to Texas Tech on Monday for the 2009 class.

“I had a lot of other scholarship offers. I visited a ton of schools. I thought every one of them was great, but Texas Tech felt like being at home,” Karam said. “I had a gut feeling. I went with my heart and I committed.''

Last season, the 6-foot-1, 197-pound dual-threat gunslinger completed 55.2 percent of his 221 passes for 1,951 yards and 25 touchdowns against 12 interceptions. Rivals ranks the three-star player as the 19th-best dual-threat QB in the nation.

Texas Tech beat out offers from Stanford, Houston, Arizona, Rice, Missouri, Iowa State, Colorado State, Utah, Louisville, South Florida and Vanderbilt for Karam. Seth Littrell is credited as the primary.
