S Ford de-commits from Oklahoma, chooses Tech

Abilene Cooper High (Abilene, Texas) safety Will Ford gave his solid verbal to Texas Tech on Thursday for the ’09 class. He was originally committed to Oklahoma.

The 6-foot-1, 190-pound three-star prospect chose Lubbock over Texas Christian, Baylor and Oklahoma, among several others. Clay McGuire was Ford’s primary.

This is a pretty good get for Tech; just a few months ago, Ford was committed to Oklahoma. Perhaps he wanted to be closer to home. Ford is the third safety for the class, and his commitment brings the Red Raiders’ total to 12 verbals.
