Tennessee Titans Pro Bowl quarterback Steve McNair announced his return for the 2005 season. He may have relished the opportunity to play for new offensive coordinator, Norm Chow.

The ironman QB was bothered by an injured sternum last year. The pain has made it difficult to breath. Moreover, McNair has complained publicly that he would like to spend more time with his family. He consulted with them prior to deciding whether or not to continue playing football.

McNair initially got hurt in the third game of 2004. He was in the hospital for two days as a result of the injury. After missing 8 games, he re-injured himself soon after his return. The latest aggravation of an injury sustained in 2000 caused him to miss the last 5 games of the season.

McNair has since been grafted with a sliver of bone from his right hip onto his sternum, in order to strengthen it. Doctors have been monitoring his recovery with periodic tests. He got cleared to throw 10 days ago. The QB said in a statement he is excited about returning, stating "I feel good physically. My sternum is healing."
