Despite published reports that have claimed the Buffalo Bills will be dealing running back Travis Henry to the Jacksonville Jaguars, it appears that he will instead be on his way to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for the Titans 3rd round draft pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. "I've been told that they have reached an agreement," Henry's agent, Hadley Engelhard, confirmed Saturday.

According to reports, Henry will be heading back to the state where he helped the University of Tennessee win their only national championship in 1998. The only snag right now for the deal to go through is that Henry and the Tennessee Titans have yet to reach an agreement on a contract extension. Henry's current NFL deal with Buffalo expires at the end of this season, and calls for the unhappy back to be paid $1.25 million this coming season. Travis Henry lost his starting job last year to rookie Willis McGahee, who made a successful return from a horrific knee injury suffered two years ago. Since being replaced, he has wanted to leave the Bills to be a starter somewhere else.

Earlier, NFL sources stated that a deal with Jaguars was imminent, but it looks as though the Titans beat their division rival to the punch for Henry's services. Both teams have been concerned about the status of both their starting tailbacks; the Titans Chris Brown and the Jacksonville Jaguars Fred Taylor. Both are question marks as training camp approaches at the end of this month.

Brown's durability has been in question after various injuries last season, and he is currently not fully recovered from a broken hand. Henry gives the Titans a proven front line ball carrier, as he gained over 1,300 yards in both 2002 and 2003 before relinquishing the starting job to McGahee. The trade should be completed officially early next week.
