UCLA senior safety Bret Lockett has been suspended and will miss the Bruins’ season opener against Tennessee. The reason for the suspension is an unspecified violation of academic rules. Redshirt freshman Glenn Love is believed to be his replacement for that game.

Lockett will still be able to participate in fall practice and is slated to return for the Bruins' second game, a contest against BYU.

COMMENTARY: Although Lockett would be needed for a win over traditional SEC powerhouse Tennessee, it’s a non-conference game; therefore, the outcome will have no effect on the Pac-10 standings.
