The Minnesota Vikings waived former first-round draft pick Erasmus James on Friday.

Commentary: James accumulated four sacks in the first 15 games of his rookie season. However, he tore the ACL in his left knee in Week 2 of his second NFL season and missed the majority of it as a result. The bad luck continued in 2007, when he suffered a similar injury to the same knee against Detroit.

The Vikings waived him after he failed a physical. Hopefully, James can rehabilitate the injury and become the player many believed he could be back in 2005.
