The Minnesota Vikings signed Lake Lillian native Jake Nordin on Sunday, three days after he was cut by the Detroit Lions, losing a roster slot battle with rookie 7th round pick Dan Gronkowski.

The 6'3", 263* Nordin was originally signed by New England as an undrafted free agent in 2007. He was All-Conference in 2005 as a junior at Northern Illinois. He was leading the team in receptions going into the 5th game of the 2006 season when he suffered a broken ankle.
The Vikings are his 5th NFL team.

The book on Nordin coming out of college was that he was one of the best in-line blockers in the country. He is tough and shows some nastiness. He has the versatility to play H-back on the move and has lined up at fullback. Sounds a lot like Jeff Dugan. On the down side, he has short arms, lacks the speed to be a factor downfield, takes steps to build steam and is a marginal athlete.

Five teams have picked him up, but he is at four and counting at getting dropped.
