When Brett Favre was signed to play for the New York Jets for the 2008 season, sparkles were flying all over The Big Apple. The best QB statistically to ever play in the NFL was now with the Jets. The thing is that the 2008 Jets started off hot but were well known for their late season meltdown that ended up eliminating them from the AFC playoffs.

Fast forward to August 18, 2009, and the Minnesota Vikings went ahead and signed the veteran QB to a 2 year, $25 million dollar contract. Are the Vikings going to walk on eggshells like the Jets and Packers have had in the past, contemplating on whether Favre was going to call it quits for good? I believe that Favre will fulfill his contract obligations.

At 38 years old, Brett Favre has already set the records for the best QB ever, surpassing the great Dan Marino. Take this account: Marino played until he was in his early 40's. Another Hall of Famer is Warren Moon played until he was 45 years old. The main thing that the sporting public has to clear from their mind is that Favre's record setting numbers are a thing of the past. In order for Brett to be successful, he has to concentrate on the now. If he does that, the numbers will be there but most importantly he will take the Vikings to the NFC playoffs.

The acquistion of Brett Favre putts the Vikings in contention for the NFC North crown. If he can put together a very solid season, there is a good chance that the Vikings will make some noise come the NFC Championship game.
