The NFL Channel has a revealing, and often funny, show called Sound FX where they mic up a player or coach for a game and then run the best sound bites the following week on the show. Last week’s episode featured the Vikings’ Brett Favre, mic’ed from the Lions game on November 15th. Anyone who knows anything about Favre can instantly jump to the correct conclusion that hilarity was the name of the game for Favre’s segment.

Amongst various bits of humor (“Don’t get smart,” Favre told Coach Brad Childress. “Nobody likes a smarty pants”) Favre ran up to teammate and receiver Sidney Rice who had just come up a few feet short of a score once again and said “You’re gonna set a record for most yards without a touchdown in league history!” with a laugh and patented Favre grin.

Apparently, Rice took that as a challenge and went out against the visiting Seattle Seahawks determined to end his streak of giant gains with no payoff. And, it didn’t matter whether Favre himself or backup Tarvaris Jackson was throwing the balls, either. With 4:08 left on the clock in the third quarter, Rice iced the game with a seven yard catch from Favre, effectively slamming the door on the Seahawks hopes of a victory, and Favre’s jokes about yards without a score.

And, that wasn’t enough for Rice, who was targeted by the Seahawks defense all game. Approximately eight minutes later, Rice took a pass from Jackson thirty-four yards to pay dirt marking the first two touchdown game of his career. Rest assured, with Favre tossing the balls, it won’t be his last, either.

Other hits from Sunday’s game:

- Adrian Peterson hit the thousand yard rushing mark for the third consecutive season.
- Brett Favre threw four touchdowns in a game for the twentieth time in his career and second of this season.
- Favre also set a Vikings single game completion percentage record, making an almost unheard of 88% of his passes.
- A defense that was once the most fearsome in the league at run stopping held the Seahawks to only four yards, which would have been roughly eight less had multiple starters not been pulled in the fourth quarter
- Percy Harvin scored again, giving him six on the season, which leads all rookies.

While there are no guarantees this is the Vikings year to win it all, at this point the journey is what it’s all about. And Favre, Peterson, Rice, Harvin and the defense are taking Vikings fans on a heck of a ride. Stay Tuned!
