Fauquier High (Warrenton, Va.) linebacker Connor McCartin gave his oral commitment to Virginia on Monday for the 2009 class.

Last season, the junior totaled 135 tackles, four sacks, two interceptions, two pass deflections and two fumble recoveries.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pounder chose coach Al Groh’s Cavaliers over Virginia Tech, Boston College, Duke and Maryland. Bob Price is credited as the primary.

COMMENTARY: Al Groh’s program continues to rack up the commitments for the ’09 class: McCartin is the 12th overall commitment and first linebacker.
