Virginia Tech received oral commitments from two in-state players on Monday, an inside linebacker and an offensive tackle.

Rivals rates Granby High (Norfolk, Va.) linebacker Telvion Clark as a three-star player and the No. 21 ILB in the nation. The 6-foot-1, 210-pounder runs the 40 in 4.47 seconds, and he chose Blacksburg over West Virginia, East Carolina, Marshall, North Carolina, Penn State and Virginia. Curt Newsome is credited as the primary.

"I’m a big fan of their defense. I like the hard hitting. I just fit perfectly in their scheme,” Clark said. “I went up there and loved the campus, loved the coaches, and everything was perfect."

Last season Clark had 153 tackles and eight sacks.

The Hokies also landed tackle Andrew Miller of Bassett High (Bassett, Va.). The 6-5, 275-pounder is also rated at three stars by Rivals and will also wrestle for Tech.

"It came down to seeing what I could do on the next level in wrestling, and also being part of one of the top football programs in the country every year," Miller said.

Miller chose Virginia Tech over Virginia, Wake Forest and Florida State. Bryan Stinespring was his primary.

COMMENTARY: Two solid pickups for coach Frank Beamer; both are highly regarded players with good stats. The Hokies’ 2009 class currently tallies at seven commitments.
