Virginia Tech wideout Brandon Dillard injured his right Achilles tendon during Tuesday’s offseason workout. He will miss the upcoming season as a result.

Mike Goforth, the team’s head trainer, said the redshirt junior will likely have surgery next week and spend the next four to six months in rehab.

After a 49-yard run on a reverse and a 25-yard touchdown catch during Tech’s Maroon & White spring game, Dillard was expected by many to start this season.

COMMENTARY: When it rains, it pours in Blacksburg, as Dillard’s injury follows the graduation of the Hokies’ four top receivers from last season.
