Carver High (Winston Salem, N.C.) safety Dominique Tate committed to Wake Forest on Thursday for the ’09 class.

The 5-foot-10, 180-pounder runs a 4.5-second 40, according to Rivals, and chose coach Jim Grobe’s program over Duke, Army, North Carolina, N.C. State, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia Tech. Ray McCartney is credited as the primary.

COMMENTARY: Tate is the second safety for the class, as he follows Duran Tate, who committed a few days ago. Grobe is loading up on defensive players, evidenced by the fact that Tate is the seventh defender in the class.
