Mountain View High (Eagle, Idaho) inside linebacker Darren Markle committed to Washington State on Thursday for the ’09 class.

The 6-foot-1, 227-pounder accrued 61 tackles, nine sacks and two fumble recoveries as a sophomore in 2006. Rivals currently rates Markle as a three-star player.

Markle chose Washington State over BYU, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon and USC, among others.

COMMENTARY: Apparently the state of Washington is a slow-moving recruiting machine: Markle is just the Cougars' second overall commitment, while the Huskies still have zero verbals.
