New West Virginia football coach Bill Stewart needs this like he needs ... well, Pacman Jones.

Several West Virginia newspapers reported last week that star Mountaineer running back Noel Devine (the heir apparent to Steve Slaton) and RB/WR Jock Sanders had been implicated in a police report of a bar fight at a Morgantown establishment called Club Z.

This falls under the category of "We probably should write something about this, just so people don't think we haven't heard." Or something like that.

Still, it gets tiresome. Another week, another brawl. This also follows on the heels of three WVU players -- Ed Collington, John Holmes and James Ingram -- being booted off the team after being arrested on charges of marijuana distribution.

The newest ugliness follows the usual pattern, with two WVU students claiming Devine, Sanders and some other football players roughed them up outside the club. However, no charges have been filed, everyone concerned declined medical attention, and Stewart said he's still waiting for more information.

Meanwhile, the bloggers and Mountaineer sports chat rooms are typing overtime.

Devine averaged over 8 yards a carry last season, while Sanders also saw considerable action as a freshman.
