Todd should be answer to Auburn’s quarterback debate

The old adage in football is that if you have two quarterbacks, you don’t have any. Times may be changing, though. Quarterback controversies are never beneficial, but if a college football team has two quality players with complementary skills, it might be on the precipice of a championship. The last two BCS champions have integrated a...

This article may have become obselete during spring, when Burns made tremendous strides in his throwing. Both guys performed well in the late scrimmages; Burns won MVP at the A-Day game. Also, both guys completed a high percentage of passes during the spring. Anyway, it's not so clear-cut as one guy having a good arm and one guy having good legs.

I definitely agree with eldar7squire. Burns has been tried and tested and deserves the starting job. It is a gross misperception that Burns has a weak arm. How can anyone make that kind of assessment when Burns was rarely used in that capacity last season. As we all know, his primary role as QB last season was to use his speed and mobility to convert. I attend the games and if you take the time to watch game film of the 58 yard over the shoulder pass he effortlessly threw to Rod Smith in the New Mexico State game, you will see that his arm is by no means "weak". I saw Jason Campbell throw many passes during his reign and I feel that Burns has that kind of talent. Like Jason, Burns can run, throw, and throw on the run. If you watch Kodi's high school recruiting video on you tube you can see for yourself just how weak his arm isn't . Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Todd primarily a pocket passer. Won't this be a disadvantage in the spread? And oh yes, in reference to your comment that Todd is the better choice for the starting position due to having experience in the spread....I think you may have missed a fact. Burns also quarterbacked a spread offense in high school. When you couple Burn's knowledge of the spread with his athletic ability in moving the ball on the ground or in the air, it seems to me that it's a "no brainer" as to who possesses the skills to lead the Tigers to an SEC championship and possibly a national title.

Let's make it three in a row......or just say that you're 0 for 3, big guy. I have to wonder how much you really know about the situation anyway because, for starters, prior to this Spring Todd had NEVER played for Franklin(as you stated). Franklin was a consultant. He was paid a fee to install his version of the spread for the high school team Todd played for. If you didn't even know this you have no credibility to comment on the matter further.
