Auburn Tigers
In 2004, the Auburn Tigers became the poster child for all that is wrong with the BCS. They rolled through the regular season undefeated, winning arguably the best conference in college football -- the SEC -- in the process. However, thanks to undefeated seasons amassed by USC and Texas, not to mention a low preseason ranking, Tiger fans were...

I am not one to criticize sports articles or even blogs. But, this article, while optomistic, is way off base. First of all, it was USC and Oklahoma that was undefeated in 2004.

There is a key difference in this years team and the 2004 team. Jason Campbell was a senior and the QB's returning this year have little experience when compared to Campbell. I am as excited about this years backfield as the next guy but you cant replace game experience.

I was willing to overlook a couple of mistakes in the article until the last paragragh. I agree that the schedule sets up nicely and the big games are at home. However, the fact that Florida is not on the schedule hasn't matter since the great Urban Meyer showed up and it wouldn't matter this year either.

I enjoy reading stuff from realfootball.com and most of the time the information is dead on target. Sorry Lee, this one seems like you were trying to meet a deadline before you could go on vacation.

Yep, you set the writer straight on the 2004 undefeated team being Oklahoma and not Texas, however, if you are so set on getting the facts straight mr. rr007, you might want to retract your comment about it not mattering to Urban Meyer that Florida is not on Auburn's schedule. The fact is...I think it matters greatly to Urban that his gators couldn't manage to beat Auburn the two years they WERE on the schedule. You can bet your gator chompers that it stuck in Urban's craw to have Auburn come to the swamp and break their 18 home game winning streak, and that their biggest obstacle in getting to another national championship game this year could very well be having to meet their nemesis (defined in Webster's as "an unbeatable rival") in Atlanta. War Eagle to ya.

wareagle1, I cant retract a comment I didnt make. I didnt say that it doesnt matter to CUM that Florida is not on Auburns schedule. I could care less what matters to CUM. I said it doesnt matter to Auburn.

The writer wrote that an undefeated season wont be easy (I agree), but with Florida off the schedule and most of its big games being played at home, the schedule sets up as nicely as possible in the SEC for Auburn.

I think he should have left out the Florida comment all together because, as you well know, Auburn has beat them ever since CUM took over in Florida. Thats just one reason I think this writer didnt get his crap together before he wrote the article.

Auburn is set for a great season and I like their chances to make it to Atlanta and Miami. War Eagle to ya!
