Lynch, Jackson need a lesser triplet

Buffalo Bills
Marshawn Lynch and Fred Jackson stood alone together in 2008. The Buffalo Bills’ ground duo of course performed magnificently last season, but they were importantly the only ones who performed at all at rushing. This team needs to give them an unequal third partner for 2009, as the offense should run more but have someone else available to...

A 3rd RB would be nice but completely unnecessary. If my math is correct Lynch and Jackson combined for 23.75 rushes a game. That is a big game for a single back but not a huge load split between 2. That means about 16 rushes/game for Lynch and 8 rushes/game for Jackson. Given how hard he runs and the fact that he catches a bunch of balls Lynches work load is probably right on. Jackson could be given another 4 carries a game easily assuming we are on the field long enough to run that many plays.

What I could see us using as a 3rd back is a true road grader FB. I mean a 6' 250lb masher that can pass block, open holes for Lynch or Jackson and also serve as a potential short yardage back. The H back is dead and it's starting to stink. Real power running teams have a good if not GREAT FB!

Having a 3rd pure RB that gets on the field for 5 carries is a waste. A FB that can be in on a lot of plays opening holes for our RBs AND potentially handling a few carries would be more versatile and useful.

OK. Did some real quick searching on FBs coming out in the 2009 draft.

This guy might be too much of a running back but HOLY CRAP. In addition to Lynch this guy could further abuse and wear down opposing defenses. As a blocker, he is literally the size of an offensive lineman. Bigger than Brandon Jacobs but not nearly as tall! If this kid can block, and he looks athletic and mean enough to do it, Safeties and most linebackers wouldn't stand a chance!

Will we be smart enough to draft him? I'm being a bit doom and gloom but I doubt it! But remember the name. If this kid gets in games in the NFL if not for anything else it would be fun to watch the collisions.

Could this be anything other than the bottom of the Bialy barrel? I really hope so.

Well, I suppose there might be a column on whether John Dorenbos should be ranked in the top ten all-time best Bills long snapper/magicians. BTW, I think he ranks as number 7.
