Taylor not tailor-made for Bills

Buffalo Bills
Running back Marshawn Lynch isn’t the only one exhaling gladly over his misdemeanor charges: The Buffalo Bills can breathe easier, too, as lighter charges mean they might not have to plan for a short life without him. Further, it puts them in a stronger position when it comes to free agent Fred Taylor, who visited the Bills on Tuesday. Even if...

The Bills have two good backs in Lynch and Jackson so I agree with AB that the Taylor signing would be silly.

If I was GM, I would have my phone speed dial set to the agent for Jeff Saturday or Matt Birk. If we have Duke Preston or Marvin Fowler at center next year, there is absolutely no way this team can compete in the AFC East. I grow tired of watching Vince Wilfork and Kris Jenkins blowing up our backfield. But what do I know compared to the geniuses at One Bills Drive.

ddd,
Birk and Saturday have been good players but they are 32 and 33 respectively. For a center that is like being 52 in human years. I would pass unless they come at a real bargain with no guarantees, which they wont. Running backs are a dime a dozen, ask the Broncos, and the last thing we need is a high mileage old timer.

Bflobob,

I have to completely agree w/ you about birk and saturday. Even if we were to take one of these guys, and the only way i would is if they come cheap, we would still be stupid not to take a center in this years draft to replace either of those two. To me if we are going to use the money on a washed up center in FA, and end up still having to take one in the draft. I would just spend the money on jason brown, or the guy from Oakland (as long as he is a significant upgrade idk much about him). Because by signing either of these guys (especially brown, but the oakland guy too if he's a competent center) it would keep us from having to address the position in the draft, and we could use the pick else where. If we can not get either of these two centers then i say we just wait until the draft and take one in round 2 or 3.

As far as the article i think i have to agree w/ AB. The only way i thought that we would sign taylor is as an insurance policy if lynch is suspended a few games, and even then i dont think that is the type of role taylor would want. Because as soon as lynch came back he would be expendible, and would probably end up being cut by the bills. So i don't think it really makes much sense for the bills to sign him, and i definately don't think it makes much sense for taylor unless he has no other options. Now w/ that said i have always liked taylor, and truly believe he is as underrated a player as their is in this league. Since his first year the guy has always been very productive. I just don't think the move makes a whole lot of sense for either side at this point. Especially finding out that it was only a misdameanor. Even if lynch is out 4 games i think we could make due w/ what we currently have on the roster.
