Who would you rather have backing up Trent Edwards, Fitzpatrick or Cassel?

Buffalo Bills
Although that question might have an obvious answer to most NFL fans, the truth is that I’m not so sure that the newly signed Chiefs signal caller would be better, or even as good, a fit as Ryan Fitzpatrick is for the Bills. First, although the year is young, Fitz has clearly outplayed Matt Cassel in preseason action. Cassel looked lost even ...

All 3, and Edwards, are 2nd tier QBs. Put any of them on a top 10 team and they all would be back-ups; 'cause they ARE back-ups !

This is an opinion.

I don't have any articles to cut and paste to support it. And, I refuse to post and paste one that the NY Times refused to print.
My opinion is based on my playing; coaching; and observations I've made in over 50 yrs of football and other team sports.
I'm not nor have I ever been a Democrat; Republican; Libertarian; Socialist; or any other thing you can think of to label me. If I'm guilty of anything; I'm progressive. I prefer new to old.
In the imortal words of W.C. Fields, "... I'd rather have 2 girls @ 22 each than 1 girl @ 44 !

Talk to you gize; much later.

I have to tentatively agree with the Pre "mir" on this one. Trent's level of play is that of a quality backup QB, perhaps a better Frank Reich. His throws seem weak and lack velocity, he has a predisposition for channeling on to the primary receiver with a tunnel vision that blinds his peripheral awareness of oncoming defenders and his leadership ability is non-existent.
However, he is still relatively young and just starting his 3rd year. This preseason he has shown some decent progress in his ability to look at multiple receivers when the primary is covered, his accuracy is excellent, the throws appear to have more velocity and his intelligence has enabled a rapid grasp of the no huddle offense. The jury may still be out but if preseason is any indication, his stock as a legitimate starter is rising.

Amir, speaking for myself I respect your experience and knowledge and enjoy reading such in your unique style that shows up in your posts. Myself and this site will be at a loss if you make yourself scarce- after all, the regular season hasn't even started! Maybe it's time for a fresh Av?

Agreed---Fitz and Hamden are good back-ups but TE has a chance to blossom. There are successful QB's in the NFL that have similar physical abilities as Trent. Just think of Kurt Warner---he played in the Europe league bounced around arena football and was bagging groceries when he was called by the Rams, same goes for Jack Delhomme of the Panthers both progressed to be starting NFL QB's----Trent is in the same mold....
