Bills Stretching in Hopes of Pulling Something

Buffalo Bills
While it may just be the nature of the process, it does seems that the brain trust at One Bills Drive think building a winning football team requires the same preparation as playing a football game. Every Sunday prior to kickoff teams line up on the field for their mandatory stretching exercises. The goal being to prevent injuries and chill...

That was great!!!

The Whitner pick instead of Ngata will haunt the Bills and their fans for years. Before that fiasco the Bills brain trust elected to let Pat Williams go in 2005, keep Sam Adams (who they let go in 06), then trade up to draft Big John McCargo and the final chapter was trading picks to secure Marcus Stroud. To summarize the Bills had a pro-Bowl DT on their roster Williams and had to give up picks to try and replace him. The Vikings are still thanking their lucky stars on that one!!!!

Another all time gaffe came in the drafting of Mike " Squirrel Eating, Yak Humping, Beanie Baby Collecting" Williams at the number #4 spot instead of Bryant McKinney of the U (that keeps producing pro players) who was the top rated OT and gave up 2 sacks in his whole college career. The Bills were just being too cute!!

I'll stop there because it is too early in the morning to get so worked up...

Grant,

You hit on a big point that has contributed to why they have not made the playoffs since 1999. Let's hope that the guys drafted last year and a few years ago (Poz, McKelvin, etc.) really click.

I watched the Steelers game last night and thought that McKelvin is really picking up the game and looks like he should get a number of interceptions this year.

This was a pretty weak article. The number of players drafted by the Bills that contribute as starters is consistent with the number that end up contributing on other teams. The Bills problem is not how they draft, its how they use the players they draft, AKA coaching. Losman was a highly mobile QB with a cannon arm (Losman threw more deep balls (over 20 yards) during his time with the Bills than any other QB in the league over the same stretch), yet the Bills tried to keep him in the pocket and didn't allow him to improvise, which was what he was known for at Tulane. Losman could have been a solid QB in the NFL if the Bills coaching hadn't ruined him. I don't know that the Bills ruined Edwards, he seems like a dud to begin with. Roscoe Parrish is another good example. Seems like a wasted draft pick for just punt returns (not to take anything away from his Pro Bowl return skills) but is he really a lack luster receiver or do the Bills not use him well? I'd say its the latter. How many times during a game have they thrown it to Roscoe on a play other than that lame WR "screen" down the line of scrimmage? You know, the play where Roscoe is usually about 2 feet away from a linebacker when he catches the Ball and is then immediately leveled??
