Bills ’08 vs. Bills ’09: The Tale of the Tape

Buffalo Bills
Bills’ fans have had a lot to moan about over the last few weeks and months. The team traded away a Pro Bowl left tackle. They cut loose an additional three starters on the offensive line, including a last minute dump of the current left swinging gate (former right swinging gate), Langston Walker. The offense has been AWOL during the preseason. So ...

Offense: The 2009 "offensive line" is whole cloth stretched beyond its limit. The Emperor's clothes were better. First injury, and they'll have to play Josh Reed at tackle. Edwards brain is still rattling around inside his dome. You thought Lynch couldn't find a seam last year? Opponents are going to bring it, instead of playing coverage. I'm glad you like the new "back up", because you'll see a lot of him. Alex Long Belt is in so far over his little head...

Defense: McKelvin is going to be a TD machine, and not in the good way. The Bills are going to give up lots of TDs, so he'll earn his pay running back KOs. I swear, if Drayton and Leodis are ever on the field at the same time, the scoreboard will look like a pinball machine. If Maybin isn't Rookie of the Year, it's going to be the shizzle on toast. The front seven is insipid at best, and I don't care that Posluszny has had the Fabio treatment at his salon.

The schedule is as brutal as the front office is incontinent.

I think Winklehamston is really FaSaad having taken an English class in night school...

...oh yeah, the loooonnnngggg schnapper...

I just don't see the Bills winning more than 4 games this year. Unless Trent can actually play like an NFL QB and IF the OL can open holes and protect the QB and IF the defense can actually get a bunch of 3 and outs in a game and IF Dickie Poo can actually coach, IF Ralph, well, I'll leave it go at that. You get my drift, too many IFs to produce winning football. IF Dickie Poo will get fired by week 5 thats a step in the right direction.

Nice analysis. I like the additions this team made in the off-season. These rookies have some talent and ability, I believe. TO will be a big help. So yes, the team is better than '08.

The big question is whether or not that translates into more wins this season. As Doomed pointed out, the answer lies in the comparative schedule. (Always a dangerous proposition before the season starts.) But I think you would be hard presed to find anyne who doesn't think the '09 schedule will be significantly more challenging than the '08 slate. Pats better, Phins the same, Jets worse. But the games outside the AFC East will be much more difficult this year.
