Walker walks, and Bills move on

Buffalo Bills
I'm thankful I never have to write about Darwin Walker again, just as all Bills followers are pleased they don't have to discuss his possible future in Buffalo anymore. The Walker saga ended when the Bills sent the surly defender to Chicago on Sunday, meaning Buffalo fans hopefully won't have to hear his name until the Bills/Bears contest in...

Let's please stop talking about Darwin Walker. He was another over-rated player who wanted to cash in and the Bills were not suckers. Let's talk about the current DT's we have. I think we will find Kyle Williams will be the best for what's that worth. From what I have read, McCargo is getting pushed around by reserve offensive lineman in camp which is a bad sign despite recovering from a foot injury. I'm sorry but this guy has bust written all over him at this point. I hope he gets it together for the team's sake because we need help. Larry Tripplet, although not worth all the money Levy threw at him last year, will be servicable until we can upgrade the position.

I think that one of the unknowns in evaluating the Walker situation is that we never clearly understood what he wanted? A new contract, at higher pay... we got that and he probably deserved it.

How high is what I've never seen. Some of his stats suggested that he's been one of the most productive DTs over the last few years. Was expecting top 5 or 10 DT money? Obviously nobody is paying him that regardless of his stats. We don't know whether his expectations were reasonable or not. If he wanted to be paid in the middle of the pack or at the top one third of DTs, perhaps his demands weren't out of line.

I also think that the Bills, while knowing that he wanted a new contract, did not understand that he and his wife owned a lucrative engineering firm, which puts him in a stronger negotiating position than the typical U of M graduate.
