Performance aside, Jackson’s no lock to make Bills’ roster

Buffalo Bills
After trading running back Willis McGahee to the Baltimore Ravens back in March, the Buffalo Bills were left with a less-than-esteemed backfield trio of Anthony Thomas, Shaud Williams and Fred Jackson. That didn't last long, though, as Bills General Manager Marv Levy took action during April's draft, grabbing RBs Marshawn Lynch (first round) and...

That might be a valid comparison...Gates and Jackson. The reason Gates was cut was his lack of blocking ability. He couldn't grasp how to block oncoming blitzers. Jackson got blown up by pass rushers near the end of Friday night's game vs the Titans so we'll have to see how he does in that area Thursday against the Lions.

First of all, where did you get your info in the final of the Atlanta game? Ooooooops!!! (Eds. note: Sorry about the error, Bob. Thanks for catching it.) I still believe that Freddy makes the roster & Williams gets cut just as I predicted while watching Jackson in NFLE & KNOWING what Williams has done for the BILLS lately. If 2 carries for 2 yards (2006) is the stat to make this team, then the BILLS are in real trouble. I want to see Jackson a Buffalo Bill & Williams released. I understand NFLE is NOT the NFL, but this guy has what it takes IMO to make an active NFL roster. He'll only get better and the blocking 'issues' pointed out will get corrected w/ time & more experience. Scobey will NEVER make this roster since he hasn't done ANYTHING since his signing. We still have McGhee & Roscoe for returning punts and kickoffs as well as Jackson, so why do the BILLS NEED Scobey?

The Bills need to start Jackson Thursday night against the first team Lions D to see what they got. Jauron owes him that much based on his performance so far. It looks like Jackson has made a lot of progress and if he gets cut, any confidence I had in the Bills' staff will be gone.
