Bills don’t match up well with Denver

Buffalo Bills
The 2006 schedule-makers were unkind to the Buffalo Bills, who faced the NFL's toughest slate but still managed a decent 7-9 record. It won't get any easier for the Bills this year; of the team's first eight opponents, all finished at least .500 last season and five appeared in the playoffs. The 2007 season begins for Buffalo at home this Sunday...

I see the Bills winning this game, somehow, with some key turnovers making the difference. If Denver wins, I see it playing out like CB described. Our "D" is going to bend all season, and then break. I respect the players on defense, they are young and aggressive, but they are just a little small, prone to injury, etc. I think Marv will address the D for 2008 like he addressed the O for 2007. I just hope we can score in the red zone for a change more often, and watch ML run and catch and win the offensive rookie of the year award. Stop Travis, protect JP, blitz like mad dogs and Go Bills!

A Buffalo win would be an upset for a couple of reasons. Their offensive line is better than Buffalo's (and many other teams') defensive line. Second, their wide receivers are better than Buffalo's cornerbacks, which is more an indictment of the corners than praise for the WRs. There are also some unknowns, which could tilt the game Buffalo's way. Can the offensive line manhandle Denver's defensive line, thus leading to a stellar debut by Lynch? It's at least possible. Can Buffalo's WRs (besides just Evans) beat the Broncos secondary? Yes, they could. Price made a rare appearance in the Lions game and Parrish has had a strong preseason. Reed has been active as well. Connor did a nice job of addressing the other questions in the article and many of the signs point to a Denver victory. I do take issue with the statement that 60% of the line is a question mark. Peters has been good, Dock was solid in preseason, Fowler hasn't been good enough on running plays and Walker has been decent even though he's needed help on at least 1/3 of passing plays. Butler is the only real question mark, which works out to 20% of the line. For Buffalo to have a chance, Butler will have to be good.
