Denver Broncos
In 10 of the last 11 seasons, the one constant for the Denver Broncos has been an outstanding running game. The team has gotten 1,000-yard seasons out of Terrell Davis four times, Mike Anderson and Clinton Portis twice each, while Olandis Gary and Reuben Droughns did it once apiece. Entering the 2006 season, many are nearly certain that...

Bell is a very good back, and Denver always seems to put together a strong run-blocking line. So Bell should be the next Bronco 1,000 yd. rusher. However, the 1,000 yd. mark is no longer the mark of an elite season for a back. As you listed, in your article, Clinton Portis has had 4 1,300 yd. seasons. Compare that production to the 1,000 yd. rushing season that Lamont Jordan had for the Oakland Raiders in his 1st year as a starting running back. Pretty good, not elite. With the 16-game season, I think the 1,300 yd. mark should be the modern standard for a great rushing season. Also, the Broncos will be facing stronger defenses in the AFC West. The Chargers have a tough run defense, and have upgraded their secondary. The Chiefs upgraded their secondary and their D-line. The Raiders' young defense is much faster and vastly improved. The Broncos' D may be worse this year. The D-line should be more vunerable to the run. They need a good run-stuffer and don't have one. So, the other teams in the AFC West should have an easier time running, against the Broncos, than last year. It will be harder for the Broncos to run this year, too.

If Tatum could put on ten pounds of muscle, he'd be unstoppable. As much as I'd like to see him emerge as the #1, I still think they'll split the carries between Dayne for power and Bell for speed. Have the coaches even designated the first team RB yet?
