BYU Cougars
Another ugly win for BYU. But a win is a win, especially when you’ve got bitter conference rivals gunning for you every week. Leading by only four points at halftime, BYU shook off its doldrums midway through the third quarter and closed out strong against New Mexico, finishing with a 21-3 victory. The Lobos are tough, but that call in real time didn't look that awful. At least, no worse than the Offensive PI against Collie in the end zone, which pushed BYU back to the point that their TD drive was killed, too. In the end, it all evens out. BYU IS the better team. And the better team won.

I didn't even bring up the bad call against New Mexico because it was a non-issue to me. The refs did make a horrible call against Austin Collie at the end of the first half which negated what would have been a 14-3 or 10-3 halftime lead instead of 7-3. It all evened itself out. I agree with azcavalier regarding the game speed view of that play. It's easy to see from the bird's eye view in slow-motion, but from ground level at game speed it would have certainly looked like it was a clip. New Mexico played a great game, but they were -2 in turnovers and held well below their yards per game rushing average which is their bread and butter. Every MWC team seems to play with greater intensity against BYU, Utah and TCU--the three conference heavyweights. It's not easy playing with a target on your back, and the target only gets larger with every passing week that you win.
