I think the decision was made prior to the Cards playoff run. Clancy Pendergast's (former DC) system was a little better fit for a 3-4 scheme and they had been utilizing a hybrid approach. However, head coach Ken Whisenhunt recently stated that the team will still use a hybrid approach, which was sort of puzzling to me. Pendergast has already caught on with the Kansas City Chiefs with former Arizona offensive coordinator Todd Haley.
