San Diego Chargers
Normally, any such speculative article about a first-year coach would carry a lead along the lines of, "The biggest question mark for the 2007 San Diego Chargers is their new head coach..." Except that, regarding Norv Turner, there should be no question mark at all; it is only by dint of modern sports fans' annoying collective short-term memory ...

I sure hope that Turner drives the Chargers into the ground but with L.T. coming out of the backfield they are so hard to beat because he is an animal no matter what he is doing, and there defense is pretty good as well, but it is going to be a difficult task to do what they did last year because they had a few games they should have lost but somehow pulled it out and that is unlikely to happen again, as far as I can tell the Chargers are still the team to beat in the AFC West and I really enjoy watching them play football, but being a Chiefs fan myself I have to hope for a major decline in there play, it's the nature of the beast, thank you for giving us Donnie Edwards back he is in the place he has belonged his whole career, Arrowhead Nation is getting pumped up for this season, go Chiefs.

You failed to discuss one major, MAJOR issue related to the .411 winning percentage Turner has, THE TEAMS HE COACHED SUCKED!!!! End of story. There was not very much cohesive talent on the Redskins when Turner coached them, and when I say cohesive, I mean they had some talent here or there (not much) but they couldn't play well as a team. Let's face it, Heath Shuler and Gus Frerote were never going to bring any team to the "promised land." And his stint with the Raiders....ouch....that was like walking into a mine field, instead of mines, the field was scattered with talentless NFL players. George Halas, Vince Lombardi, and Don Shula, collectively, could not have made those teams winners. I think the "third time will be a charm" for Norv. He has more talent then virtually any team in the NFL, he is a well respected guy, he is an offensively smart coach, he has the best RB in the league, and he is a genius with young QB's. The problem with this article, and America in general is if you fail once or twice in life, you are automatically labled a perennial loser unless/until you win it all. Well, who cares if Norv repeats the 14-2 mark, as a Charger fan, last season was fun, but it ended as they all have since I have been watching since the 70's. So if Norv only wins 10 games but takes us to the Bowl, I could care less. Bottom line is, this is still the most talented team in the league, and I don't think even the worst coaches in history could screw this team up. Norv will do all right.
