| FINALLY! Someone with a real sense of the Chiefs actually SEES what's going on with the offense! Thank you! All the talking heads over at ESPN (which is running hip deep with ex-PonyBoys from Denver) haven't got a clue. Everyone is slamming KC for not drafting a OT in the first round - but I have yet to hear one of them (or even the crawl) mention Damion MacIntosh's name. Though they'll harp on the loss of Black to the Texans as a sign of impending disaster in KC. Well MacIntosh is a solid guy, and kicked our butts last season in Miami, and Herm had the chance to see D-Mac twice a year while he was with the Jets... I imagine he knows something the rest of the world is not aware of about MacIntosh. Folks don't know it but Black's nickname in KC was I-65 because you could drive 4 lanes of trucks thru his pass blocks. The only guy in KC who pass blocked worse than Black in KC last year was Larry Johnson. KC will miss Will Sheilds leadership, but Welborne's natural position is RG, and I have an idea we will not miss Shields as much this year as we did Roaf last year. With Pro Bowler Brian Waters back at LG and Casey Weigman at Center, if Chris Terry can do the job at RT, we've got a couple young guys, and several decent utility vets on the OL for depth. But you hit the nail on the head about D-BO... he's a lethal blocker - especially in the open field. If Herm and the guys can scheme situations to spring LJ off the left side, it will give D-BO the chance to spring him for TD's with his downfield blocking, LJ should be frothing at the mouth thinking about it! The added speed at linebacker (Donnie Edwards & Napoleon Harris) along with the youth and speed of Turk and Tank on the DL, KC should finish above the mark of 16 in the league they had last year. To me, Denver has talent but I question their ability to overcome the recent tradgeties there with talent - any team would struggle... they are human as well as being a great team. San Diego is going to crash mostly because AJ Smith might be great at finding playing talent, but he's a walking disaster managing his coaching staff and Wannstadt is not going to get the same results from that team Marty did - especially with both co-ordinators gone too. The Raiders? Please. It will come down to Denver and KC for the division, and whoever loses that fight will most likely beat out San Diego for the Wild Card - IF San Diego is even in the running. | ||

| Nice article and great comment. Hey, Curt, I forgot about the I-65 nickname. Don't worry though, I updated it on Wikipedia. -cw | ||
