Ray Ray McElrathbey’s decision to play out his final two years of eligibility at Howard University signaled the end of a complicated saga for the Clemson University football program. Most know Ray Ray’s name by now – even Oprah, who invited him on her show two years ago – and his story. It was in 2006 when the then-Clemson backup running...

Ray Ray would have been about 5th on the RB depth-chart next season. He probably wouldn't have played a down. He wouldn't have played pro football. Ray Ray got an undergrad degree from Clemson, free-of-charge. And Clemson gave Ray Ray the opportunity to get a graduate degree, free-of-charge. Not bad for a guy who wasn't good enough to start. I wish Clemson had treated me that unfairly.

Clemson showed its class by choosing to take a PR hit, rather than embarrass Ray Ray by revealing the real reasons for pulling his scholarship.

It'll be interesting to see if Ray Ray starts at Howard. But either way, armed with brains, drive, and couple college degrees, Ray Ray will undoubtedly have a successful career. All the best to him and his family.

The above statement pretty much says it all. Just wanted to add that according to most close sources, both sides parted with little to no hard feelings, even though there were some stressed feelings as the situation progressed. Even though RR may have complained to friends about the situation when it first came up, I believe that in the end he realized that CU had done more than right by him. We all do wish him the best.

Also, porps to this writer for even-handed reporting.
