Venables is NOT the guy for Clemson, because of his porous defenses in the last 4-5 seasons at OU. He is merely the beneficiary of Bob Stoops' stellar program, riding stoops' coattails. Leave him at OU.

OU's defense is ranked about 50th in the nation. Granted, there are some great offenses in the Big12 (or maybe a lot of bad defenses). But from what I understand, many OU fans are unhappy with Venables and would be thrilled if Clemson hired him. It seems like Clemson could do a LOT better.
