Clemson Tigers
Does Clemson have quality talent? Most definitely. After all, the Tigers often play for the ACC title. But is their talent properly developed along the way for that crucial next level, the NFL? One major indicator of how good a team develops its players is to look at their pro contributions. Covering almost half of the 32 NFL teams, the list is:...

poorly researched article
CBS Alumni Tracker lists 27, including veteran punter(special teamer) Chris Gardocki.....[Author's comments: Thanks for the comment. However it's not poorly researched. I used ESPN as my resource and, like it or not, is reliable. Also, they nor NFL.com lists Gardocki on Pittsburgh's roster or any roster for that matter. Same for Corey Hulsey. In short, if they're not on a team's roster, they didn't make the list.]

Interesting. But I'm not sure if any of this is relevant since we're looking at a long chunk of history spanning multiple coaches. I'm frustrated that this past season Clemson was #7 in the nation for number of players drafted by the NFL (with 11 players going to the NFL in 2007), yet Clemson finished the season unranked. To me that shows that Bowden's crew has been able to recruit top tier talent and position-coach them well enough to be respected by the NFL, but that the coaches have not been able to develop winning game plans and total team efforts (including special teams). However, if Clemson can remain around #7 in NFL drafting, that should be a BIG selling point for Clemson to land top tier high school recruits, since the recruits will have as good a chance at Clemson, as any other team, to make it to the NFL. And the recruits will probably have a better chance to be a college starter than if they join talent-laden teams like Florida or Notre Dame, whose players routinely transfer to other schools to get playing time.
