Clemson Tigers
One big question mark for Clemson going into the 2007 season is their special teams coverage, which was pathetic. Even lowly Temple ripped off some huge returns against the Tigers. Tommy Bowden's team consistently put its defense in a hole by either kicking short or giving up a long runback. The coaches tried several approaches: squib kicks,...

Considering how important the kicking game is, especially with most teams having similar talent levels (unlike the old days with a handful of dominant teams), schools should be using 3-4 scholarships for kickers. Have 1 guy who is rock-solid on short FGs and extra points. Have 1 guy who can just boom the kickoffs. Have 1 guy who is a punt guru. Have 1 guy who backs these guys up, less of a specialist.

If it meant an extra 15-20 yards on every series, it would be worth it to "waste" more scholarships on kicking.

special teams have been 1 of the many shortcomings of CU since Mrs bowden came to tigertown.here it is,year #9 of the khaki regime and all I hear are promises to fix this and that.I'll believe it when I see it.on that note,I have a suggestion for the team motto for 07:Tommy,WIN THE ACC OR GET THE HELL OUT!

Most any person that knows football knows that special teams are important.Ask Frank Beamer at Virginia Tech. All close game are usually won because of specialty teams.I think that any good coach puts alot of preparation in this area.Personally I think that coach Bowden is right on track, with the ACC expanding. The quality of teams in the ACC are much higher due to better coaches. You must admit our recruiting is better than in previous West and Hatfield terms. What remains the question, can coach Bowden take this Clemson talent rich team to the next level.I think he can do it.
