Clemson Tigers
Despite a putrid finish to the 2006 season, Clemson has announced that it has broken the record for season tickets sales (57,991). The old record of 57,625 was set prior to the 1988 season, and the most sold since Tommy Bowden has been coaching the Tigers was 57,506 in 2001. One impressive note about the season tickets is that although the Tigers...

true-Death Valley is 1 of a kind.I'm just anxious to see how pitiful we are in the 1st game.after that i'm sure the rest of the season i'll spend intoxicated just to better ignore the pain.perhaps 1 other reason you didn't touch on was the fact that every1 loves to stare at disaster.you know how when you drive by a car wreck, you just have to look.well, maybe that's why we set a new ticket sales record.and hey, let's not 4get;as long as we've still got 28 toting the rock,we have a chance of winning everytime we take the field-that of course depends on if our dumbass coaching staff will give him enough carries.COWHER4COACH2008

This is good news, Bob. Despite the poor finish Clemson had last season, it is indeed reassuring they broke the season ticket record. Also very true, Clemson has one of the most rabid fanbases in the entire NCAA. I attended about 99% of the home games from the '82 season through the '99 season, as well as the '86 Gator Bowl (v. Stanford, where Frank Howard actually sat 2 rows in front of us), and the really bad '96 Gator bowl where Syracuse destroyed us. Clemson fans are historically top-10 no doubt when it comes to pure loyalty and devotion. And all the reasons you named are valid: Spiller/Davis, the intrigue surrounding a new QB particularly Korn, Sapp's potential to be better than Adams quickly becoming a reality, the return of Antonio Clay and Tremaine Billie, and a host of other reasons. There's a lot to be hopeful for, but like Jerry alluded to there are coaching concerns going into next season. But in spite of those concerns, fans will still turn out big-time and the CUAD should be grateful. Now we'll have to see if this kind of turnout happens next season with the seating reallocation. It will be interesting to see the impact of that.

Barring injuries, I expect Clemson to have one of the best defenses in the ACC this year. The offense has talent on the o-line, qb, and wr positions (rb situation is obvious). If our new rb coaches can finally straighten out special teams, only a bad qb performance will prevent this from being a good year.
