Quick note: As reported in the Muncie Star Press, Ball State has turned down the extended offer from Boise to appear in the Humanitarian Bowl, citing the location of the game as the reason as well as their ties to the Motor City Bowl should they beat Buffalo. The latter probably is a cover up because they...and heck, myself...don't find it fair that they should prove their national worth against another mid major power on that other team's home field.

Spawn, to answer your question...

The bowl was originally the Crucial.com Bowl and then the MPC Computers Bowl in 2004 because of Idaho-based sponsor Micron Technology, who came up with the sponsorship idea and wanted the game in Boise. It is now called the Humanitiarian Bowl and is one of only 2 bowl games in "cold weather" cities along with the Motor City Bowl in Detroit. The Seattle Bowl existed from 2001-02, but was moved to warmer Fort Worth. This is the final year the ACC is tied to the HB and next year the other slot will be filled by a Mountain West team. Hope that helps.
