When a bowl game has the #2 ACC pick for their game it does not mean that they have to take the "second best" team in the conference. They can select a team with a worse overall record provided there is not more than one game difference in their conference record or the lower team is ranked at least five places higher in the BCS rankings. The bottom line is that bowl games are about money and they are going to select the teams that will put fans in the seats. Clemson fans are fiercely loyal and travel very well. That is going to be attractive to any bowl game. So, whether or not the Gator Bowl stays affiliated with the ACC there will be plenty of others that will be happy to have the Tigers because they know that they will sell out their allotment of tickets. That's what it's all about.
