Indianapolis Colts
The Indianapolis Colts' Joseph Addai could start a support group with former teammate Dominic Rhodes, Max McGee, and maybe Timmy Smith for players who should have but didn't win at least a share of the Super Bowl MVP. Peyton Manning either will be or already is considered the best ever at his position, but he might still be ringless if not for...

I respectively agree with most of your article, except the part about Joseph Addai being less thrilling than Edgerrin James. I think anyone that really knows football can see that Addai is far better than James. If James was so good why didnt the Colts win a title with him? Addai can do anything that James did and more. James never had the speed and burst that Addai has. It is still early in his career, but everyone will see that Addai will prove to be the better player if he stays healthy. He is going to be a special player.

It's nice that Peyton Manning finally got the monkey off of his back that he couldn't win the big one last season. But the truth is he was far less than magnficant through most of the Colts playoff run until the final half against the Patriots. In the Super Bowl victory he was workmanlike but hardly a dominant performance. He was more Trent Dilfer than Joe Montana. I agree with you Anthony that the Colts running backs or even their much maligned defense, not Manning that deserved to be Co-MVPs of that game. For most of his career Manning has been a great quarterback, the domiant player at his position. But he was not deserving of the MVP award in the biggest game of his career. Loved your Tim Smith reference. Talk about a guy who had his 15 minutes of fame and then disappeared!

Sorry to disagree Nate, but the defenses he faced against Baltimore and Chicago in the superbowl were probably the best defenses in the league. What most people don't realize is that Manning actually displayed better QB play than any time I have seen him. He didn't try to get everything back like he used to he displayed a calm that he never had before at the time when he most needed it, just because he didn't have the 3 td 300 yard performance we have come to expect doesn't meant that it wasn't a great performance.
I don't really disagree that the two backs should have gotten the MVP, but the pass to Reggie with a lineman on his back was absolutley the most pivotal play of the superbowl.
