Cowboy Nation: Taking a closer look at Wade Phillips

Dallas Cowboys
When Jerry introduced Wade Phillips as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys two years ago, I cringed. The Bill Parcells project had failed to provide a Super Bowl and Jerry was ready to move on. What I couldn't understand was jumping from one extreme to the other. If Bill was the disciplinarian, the drill sergeant, the bull dog of coaching, why...

I totally agree, Wade is alot like Barney. But i think more like the dinosaur than the bedrock boy. Either way, a tiger can't change it's stripes. He's a great DC, but his track record shows he's not cut out to be the Head Coach. However, a missed fg in Arizona that put us into overtime is what killed last season, not Barney's coaching ability. We lost the game, our qb and a pro bowl punter in a matter of minutes. IF win and never go into o/t, we keep the two hurt players, we're 10-6. IF we scored the 25pts /game we averaged with Romo at the helm, and we win the two games that Brad Johnson lost, that makes 12-4. I realize that IF a frog had wings, he wouldn't bump his butt when he jumped. But, can that all be blamed on Barney ,when he doesn't step foot on the field? But, you are right, a change at HC is needed. Help me get the point across to JJ.

Jroc73 you Rock! Thanks for the comment. Yeah, i'm with you on that Arizona game. It was the game that doomed our season. I just can't see how we could lose a winnable game against Baltimore, with those two long rushing touchdowns (The longest in Texas Stadium history by the way) and then follow it up with that crap in Philly. That was not my team, that was Barney's team. No coach should allow back to backs like that. I only wish he would have been on the field for those games, running back getting hit by Ray Lewis. I'm jumping on board because I'm a Cowboy fan, I'll back him this year because I have no choice. But if we get no where again, if we go 0-4 in december, it's SHANAHAN TIME! Thanks again.

You're right about the back to back blow outs to end the season. It was pathetic to close out Texas Stadium like that. How can the Phillips 3-4 give up the game like they did? And , when all you have to do is win one to get into the playoffs, how do you go out and lay an egg like that in Philly? But , we're stuck with him for another year, so, GO BARNEY!!

For the next round, go easy on my boy, Romo. Remember, this is only his third full year. Peyton Manning didn't win his first three playoff games, either. And, we were only a miscued fg snap away from winning in Seattle, which had nothing to do with his qb ability.
