Miami Dolphins
As if a Week 1 loss to the archrival New York Jets wasn’t enough, the Miami Dolphins also learned that promising rookie right guard Donald Thomas is out for the year with a foot injury that is clearly more serious than initially suspected. Moreover, Miami cut starting fullback Boomer Grigsby just weeks after awarding him the job over incumbent...

Even they lost the dolphins still looked decent they could have easily won that game so I wouldn't be too worried after just one week of play.

Agreed but the o line did not get it done in this game. The line did not look as good as the line of last year but hopefully it will improve after a few meaningful games. The team did compeat for the full game and there was no drop off in the end; a big improvement there over what I had grown used to seeing.

The problem isn't Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown, it's the rest of the offense.

As serviceable (and as accurate) of a QB as Chad Pennington is and has been, he can't throw the ball deep anymore. The Jets had better receivers and much less of a running game last year, but won next to nothing with Chad in there because he's limited in what he can do.

Ginn is at best a "2a" receiver, more suited to run in the slot or be the guy who goes for the deep balls. The rest of the corps is made up of guys who are 3s at best. Hagan's done nothing, Wilford (who didnt even sniff a ball Week 1) was a 3 in Jacksonville (not exactly a bastion of awesome receivers), Camarillo is a 4th receiver type and the other two guys are rookies.

Now, if and when thy go to Henne, they can let Ginn and Hagan run free a little more, which will help. Until then, though, teams will stack 8 or 9 in the box on Brown or Williams because they know Chad's arm won't beat them.

Jacksonville has always had similar issues, but they've won because teams know Garrard knows how to beat you if you focus too much on the run (and Taylor and MJD are also excellent receivers out of the backfield).

If they can find a QB that gives them that option, they can start to make some noise.
