Miami Dolphins
On Friday, the Pro Football Writers Association named Jake Long, Kendall Langford and Dan Carpenter to the NFL All-Rookie team. All three were certainly deserving, but they represent only a cross-segment of the youth movement that appears to have taken hold within the Miami Dolphins' 53-man roster. Here's a breakdown of other young movers and...

What is unfortunate and what no one has mentioned is that we lost another of our late round gems that could have been a great contributor to our team down the road- Jalen Parmele. I really liked the kid in the preseason... he looked to have a lot of speed and some nice vision, and some pretty decent size at that.

Obviously the Ravens like him just as much as I do... they made the sacrifice of carrying 4 running backs on their roster (yes I know McClain is technically listed as a fullback), in order to swipe him from us. And yes I know that running back is an area of strength and not a real need for this team, but with Ricky well into his thirties and no significant evidence that Cobbs can be an every down back, I think Parmele could have had a nice niche with this team. I'm sure the trifecta will probably find someone just as good to replace him in a couple years, however. As good as our draft was this year, it was equally as wasteful in the late rounds. I know rounds 5-7 are generally rounds where teams gamble, but for Miami to draft Parmele, Lex Hilliard, and Lionel Dotson, it is very likely that we could have traded two or three of these picks and consolidated them for one earlier selection. If Dotson is not on the team next year (and there is no reason he should be with Merling, Langford, Holiday, Starks, and Rod Wright filling out the 3-4 end spots), our late round selections last draft will prove to be very wasteful (although we did get one gem in Donald Thomas). Why we did not draft another developmental guard or center, free safety, or large receiver is very strange to me. It was obvious from the get-go that only one of the two running backs we took could make the team (at the most). Furthermore, Rod Wright showed in 2007 season that he can be a very servicable player in the DL rotation, and has perfect size for a 3-4 end.
