Say bye to Beck

Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins have already made it clear that they are looking to stockpile picks for the 2009 NFL draft. In order to get those selections, they will have to let go of players who won't contribute to their future. At this point, we can all assume that quarterback John Beck is one of those guys. The second-round pick of the Dolphins in 2007 ...

Beck is a good QB but he has not been given the chance to prove it. I would not say he is better than Hennie but I think he is in the same ballpark. I think Hennie and Beck make a solid 1 2. Penny will be out of Maimi next year so keeping Beck would be a good idea. My opinion aside I suspect you are right.

No doubt Beck will be traded. The fumblitis was too apparent when he did play, and he's shorter than most would like in the NFL. However, he has an extremely strong arm and can make any throw, so to say he is available for any compensation is a bit unfair to the Dolphins. He will make, and probably already is, a solid backup QB. There's nothing wrong with that.

Adding Pat White is ridiculous. The "wildcat" works because of our situation offensively. I don't believe for a second that this is the direction Miami intends to head as a team. It's in our bag of tricks, but it will always remain a "trick" in my mind. It works best when you don't see it coming and didn't anticipate or plan for it. We draft a "trick" player, and then everytime he comes into the game, the other team puts in its package to stop him. It will only work if he is accepting of a non-QB position, like Brown, such that the other team can't "see it coming."

We drafted one gadget player already - Ted Ginn - and what has that gotten us? Yes, he's fast as lightening, but who wants a player making # 9 draft pick money returning punts and kickoff's? Apparently we don't. I believe he returned three kicks for TD's his first season - two were called back on penalties before he finally got official credit for his third - but his salary is a hefty price to pay for such specialty. I feel the same about White.

I told you guys, the sooner you get Henne in there the sooner you guys become a good offense.
Your receivers will improve on that substitution alone.

The main reason the Ravens packed it in on you guys was because of Pennington and his inability to throw downfield or put zip on his passes with a rush up the middle.
